Social Studies

At Tech High, all Social Studies courses are designed to help students become informed, engaged, and analytical thinkers who understand the political, economic, and historical forces shaping our world. Through rigorous coursework, document analysis, discussion, and real‑world application, students build a strong foundation in civics, history, economics, and global awareness. Honors and Advanced Placement options allow students to pursue deeper inquiry and college‑level study.

Courses Offered:
  • United States Government Honors (0.5 credit)
  • Economics Honors (0.5 credit)
  • Personal Finance & Money Management Honors (0.5 credit)

Students in Honors courses examine primary sources, analyze cause‑and‑effect relationships, and explore how geography, politics, culture, and economics shape societies. AP students expand these skills through college‑level reading, writing, and historical analysis.

Advanced Placement Options:

  • AP United States History: A rigorous, college‑level course examining the political, social, economic, and cultural development of the United States from pre‑colonial times to the modern era. Students evaluate historical evidence, interpret primary and secondary sources, and make connections across eras. AP students are required to take the AP examination.
