English / Language Arts

At Tech High, all English courses are full‑year, Honors‑level classes designed to build strong readers, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. Students engage in close reading of complex texts, analytical writing, research, speaking and listening, and vocabulary development across all grade levels. Advanced Placement options are available for students seeking college‑level rigor.

Students in AP English courses read and write at a college level and deepen their understanding of how language, structure, and style shape meaning.

Advanced Placement Options:

• AP English Language & Composition: Focuses on rhetorical analysis, nonfiction texts, and sophisticated writing for various purposes and audiences. May satisfy the English III requirement.
• AP English Literature & Composition: Emphasizes literary analysis of fiction, poetry, and drama from various periods and genres.
